SELF MASSAGE
How can applying self-massage techniques support you day to day and between your massage treatments?
To those new to my website or me, my name is Bethany Wynn. I am a trained musical theatre performer as well as a qualified and insured massage therapist based in Southeast London.I recently graduated from a year-long training course with the Jing Institute, where I learned all about chronic pain conditions and how to support them using massage techniques.
I am on a MISSION to spread the wonderful benefits of self-massage techniques to you all and explore how they can support you in your day-to-day life.
BENEFITS OF SELF MASSAGE:
It allows you to stay connected to your body—your movements, your muscles, and your skin.
It helps you tune in with how you are feeling. Ask yourself, does one side of the body feel different from the other? Can you feel any areas of tension?
It allows you to take control of your movements by understanding what different joints in the body do and how you can improve that through these techniques.
It teaches you trigger point pain patterns so you can release tense muscles yourself from the comfort of your own home.
It educates you on pain patterns, helping you understand why certain muscles may cause certain pain from a soft tissue perspective.
It's educational—you learn about your body while checking in with yourself and bringing some well-deserved relaxation and rest.
WHO IS SELF MASSAGE FOR:
EVERY WONDERFUL HUMAN.
Everyone I’ve welcomed through my clinic doors for treatment often leaves with massage ball ideas, self-stretches, breath work, ranges of motion, and self-massage techniques. Self-massage classes led by a trained massage therapist can be accessible to everyone, whether in-person workshops, weekly classes, or online classes from the comfort of your home.
On a personal note, I trained in musical theatre for much of my 20s. I also traveled long distances and worked abroad. Whenever I couldn’t have an in-person massage, I would turn to self-massage techniques to reduce pain, increase my range of motion, and help me tap into my parasympathetic nervous system and reconnect with myself.
WHAT YOU NEED FOR A CLASS:
JUST YOUR WONDERFUL SELF.
If you were to attend one of my workshops, in-person classes, or online sessions, I provide options and ways to work without needing extra tools. However, if you have them, I may suggest the following:
Massage ball or tennis ball
Towel or band
Blankets or pillows for comfort
Water for hydration
Pen and paper to jot down anything you've learned
SOUND LIKE A BIT OF YOU?
If you’re between treatments and want to support yourself further, if you’re new to massage, or if you love massage and want to learn more about it and your body—self-massage classes could be for you. They can also help if you're looking to reduce pain and know massage could help.
MONTHLY ONLINE WORKSHOP:
I host a self-massage workshop online once a month, where you can join me live to learn and practice techniques from the comfort of your home. You can also purchase previously recorded classes on my website, giving you the flexibility to explore self-massage at your own pace.
