Let’s Rewrite the Narrative

How to stop saying sorry and start celebrating our bodies when going. fora massage.

Blog by Bethany Wynn.

I often hear in Clinic clients apologising for their bodies, something that if you are regular with me you know give a friendly reminder that you should never be apologising for your wonderful bodies.

Instead of apologising for our bodies, let’s start celebrating them. When you walk into a massage clinic for your treatment, you’re not just showing up for a treatment—you’re showing up for yourself. That alone is something worth celebrating.

Taking the time to prioritise your well-being, to rest and restore, is a powerful act of self-care. It’s a reminder that you are deserving of this space, exactly as you are.

So, let’s leave “I’m sorry” at the door and replace it with “I celebrate”:

Instead of: “I’m sorry for my hairy legs.”

Say: “I celebrate the natural rhythm of my body.”

Instead of: “I’m sorry I’m sweaty.”

Say: “I celebrate the effort and energy I’ve put into my day.”

Instead of: “I’m sorry for my fake tan streaks.”

Say: “I celebrate the fun and joy that comes with expressing myself.”

Instead of: “I’m sorry I didn’t shave.”

Say: “I celebrate my body in its most authentic form.”

Instead of: “I’m sorry for needing an extra blanket.”

Say: “I celebrate listening to my body and honouring its needs.”

Every time you step into the clinic, you are choosing to give yourself the care and attention you deserve. This is not a moment for judgment or self-criticism—it’s a moment to embrace everything that makes you you. Whether you’ve had the chance to shave, paint your nails, or wash your hair doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’ve shown up for yourself, and that alone is worth celebrating.

The truth is, our bodies are worthy of care no matter what. Sweaty, hairy, tired, or perfectly polished—every body is deserving of rest, healing, and kindness. Massage isn’t about creating perfection; it’s about connection and care. It’s about giving your body the love and attention it deserves, not because it meets some arbitrary standard, but because it’s yours.

So, let’s shift the narrative. When you come for a massage, let it be a celebration of you and all that your body does for you every single day. Instead of focusing on what you think you need to apologise for, focus on what you’re honouring: your strength, your resilience, and your decision to take time out for yourself.

This can be a difficult thing for someone to do, as we have become so accustomed to saying sorry for ourselves. But even if its something you dont say out loud and let flow through your thoughts in the treatment. I would love to hear more celebration for the fact you and your wonderful body arrived for the treatment.

Massage is a safe space, a judgment-free zone where every body—hairy, sweaty, tired, —is welcomed and celebrated. There’s no “right” way to arrive.

Showing up, taking that step to care for yourself, is more than enough.

So next time, hold your head high, and instead of saying, “I’m sorry,” let yourself say, “I celebrate me.”

I will always be celebrating for you!
